WildWest (zip) (v1.613) - File Description

Here is what we've all been waiting for...the public release of WildWest! Keep in mind that this is a beta release, and that there may be a few bugs left to be cleaned up. It's also important to note, that you MUST have RTCW installed on your computer and a working CD key in order to play WildWest.

If you're tired of the fast paced spawn-run-die atmosphere of most FPS games, or if you're just looking for something different, then you're in the right place! The community is modest in size, and some of the most friendliest you'll ever come across! The maps are top-notch, and with the anti-lag code in this new version, it's a fairly level playing field for all! Although all players in the WildWest community will help you with objectives, locations, and directions...it's important to note that the official testers of the game will be displaying the =WW= tag; (not to be confused with a clan tag) What does this mean? It means that these people are obligated to answer your questions, and/or show you around the maps along with any secrets within the maps;

If you are having any issues, or require more information, you can either post it here, or check the Gaming Forums thread located here.

Linux and Mac users are recommended to use this installer, if you are a Windows user, you should be looking at this file: http://www.returntocastlewolfenstein.filefront.com/file/;43624

Install instructions
Extract to your RTCW folder.

This is a full install build, and is over 200MB, so please allow enough time for downloading. If you wish to be able to play both Version 1.5 and Version 1.6, then you will need to make a copy of your 1.5 Return to Castle Wolfenstein/WildWest and install the 1.6 version into the copy, leaving your existing 1.5 version intact.

Some new maps are included: Macho Grande, BoulderDash, and Mountain Assault. The Mine map has also returned to the rotation.

* You can now shove another player using the Use/Activate key (same key as used to open doors).

* A volley gun head shot will gib the other player.

* The /kill command has a 3-5 second delay on it, so don't wait till the last second for flag respawn purposes.

Some players have reported experiencing problems joining the server due to PunkBuster issues. A zip file containing the latest and greatest PunkBuster files can be downloaded here: http://www.the-wildwest.com/files/PunkBuster/pb.zip

Extract the files into your existing PB folder and you shoud be able to join the server.

@ #1 & #3--

Talk about porting this mod to ET has been going on for some time, but it doesn't look like it will happen anytime in the near future, their reasons are their own...however, Queeg or Ignacio, or someone else from InSynerate may jump in here at anytime and add more information to this.

As for the servers, the people that have been playing WW for years are spread out across continents, so there are for the Europe servers as well as the N. American servers (due to timezones, some servers are idle.)

If you want to explore the maps, and need a guide, look for a player with the =WW= tag (denotes testers, not clan affiliation) or, if the servers are empty, feel free to add me on MSN, and I will be happy to show you around. (hfx_rebelAThotmailDOTcom)

Mac users should contact me directly(or post on the forum)... the dll's are included in the .zip,
but (as many Mac users know already) running a mod on a Mac is a proper PITA.
We have a "switcher" application which will make your life easier smile
NOTE: I'm talking about MAC users , not Windows or Linux.

WHOA! the godfather of the WildWest! Howdy Hew!

Since Hewster didn't leave an email to contact him at, I'll direct you to the forums he's talking about:

GamingForums: http://forums.filefront.com/forumdisplay.php?f=252
InSynerate forums: http://forums.the-wildwest.com//forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=9
Either one will work.

no, you do not need 1.5 to play 1.6..in fact, if you have 1.5, and fail to rename it, it will cause problems.

I'll ping one of the InSynerate team to elaborate...

I spoke with Capt. Queeg, he would like to post the problem that you are having in one of the forums listed below (...or above wink ) and to try to include as much information as you can.

GamingForums: http://forums.filefront.com/forumdisplay.php?f=252
InSynerate forums: http://forums.the-wildwest.com//forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=9
Either one will work.

The dev team had copious discussions about porting WW to ET. We decided that rather than spend a lot of time porting it over, we would rather move towards a retail version on on entirely different game engine that would give us even more functionality and graphics capabilties than ET does.

This is the direction we are headed, if the Lord is willing and the creek don't rise.
