Shrub by Shrub

Shrub is one of the most popular mods currently available. One aspect of Shrub that makes it particularly appealing to game server admins is that it requires no client-side download. This means that by choosing to run Shrub on one's server, the large amount of players that don't know how to or don't bother to download mods won't be excluded. Shrub has numerous features, all of which can be enabled or disabled by the server admin. Some of it's more popular features include the ability to drag corpses, improved handling of ammo and weapons (all player classes can now drop weapons,) advanced reporting of statistics, and smoke grenades.

Features: Allow / Disallow Soldier Guns | Ammo Giving / Donating | Ammo Hints | Ammo Packs Give Syringes and Pistol Rounds and Helmets | Axis / Allies Left | Binoculars for Non-LTs | Cancel Vote | Censor Chat | Clan Alignment | Classes | Client Number Finder | Corpse Dragging | Custom Bonus Points Values | Disable Checkpoint Flag Wins | Disable Corpse Sinking | Disable Flag Points | Disable Map-Starting Votes | Disable Medic Self-Healing when Carrying an Objective | Disallow Late Joins | Disallow Specific Votes | Dynamite Warnings | Force Respawn | Force Team | Freeze Tag | Flamethrower Self-Damage in FF-Off Mode | Fun Mode | Gib Reporting / Gib Points | Group / Name-Matching Private Messaging | Headshot Practice Mode | Helmet Protects from Head Shots | Ignore Clients | Ignore Complaint Forms | Kill Player | Lag Compensation | Launch / Throw / Fling | Leg Shot Temporary Speed Reduction | Limit Soldier Weapons | Lock / Unlock Teams | Orient / Disorient / Shake Player | Play Dead | Print Commands | Private Messaging | Proximity Mines | Revive Underwater | LT Damage Return | Property Damage | Rotating Server Messages / MOTDs | Shoving | Show Revives | Shuffle Teams & Auto Team Shuffling | Slapping | Spectator Locking | Spectators can Talk to Non-Specs | Start of Round Ammo Request Penalty | Statistics | Touch Gib | Uncap Ammo | Warmup Damage | Warmup Freezing

The pros: No client download. Many features, all optional.
The cons: None!

OSP by Orange Smoothie Productions

OSP is essentially a "competition" mod. It doesn't change any aspects of gameplay, but instead adds features to make organized match play easier.

Features: Enhanced match mode play, with all commands needed to conduct organized games on any server (pausing, team locking, ready-up, etc.) | Extensive in-game player and match statistics | Advanced and configurable voting system | Remote admin "Referee" capabilities with many commands available to control the match and players | "Multiview" spectator support for in-game and demo playback, with the ability to spectate multiple players at once | Configurable client-side modifications that allow for extra visual settings | Enhanced UI with additional "tooltip" help information on added OSP options, in several languages | "Democast" support for demo/shoutcast synchronized playback | Enhanced latency support for laggier network connections | Truly random reinforcement time offsets on match starts. The respawn times are still the same for each side on each map, but the offsets of when they count down to 0 is now completely randomized. This helps eliminate spawn camping.

The pros: Excellent for clans. Many features for matches and league play.
The cons: All players must have already downloaded the mod.

Bani by Bani

When installed on a server, Bani will not change any gameplay aspects by default. That means that game server admins can simply load Bani on their server, and without any configuration immediately benefit from it's anti-cheat features. Aside from it's cheat/exploit fixes, Bani includes many features that add "fun" types of gameplay ("Rocket Pilot," "Instagib," and "Goldrush" are among the more popular.) Like Shrub, Bani does not require a client-side download.

Features: Cheat and exploit fixes | Administrators may grant "semi admin" access to give individuals limited server control | Individual maps may be locked out | Individual votes may be locked out | A powerful game menuing system | Admins may allow players to vote to change gravity, speed, and other physics of the game | Anti-spawnkilling and anti-camping mechanisms | Extended verbose logging of game events | New game types - Goldrush, Assassin, King Of The Hill, Dynamite the Hill, and Ultra Checkpoint | New player classes - Commanding Officer, Spy, Scout, Rocket Pilot | New weapon modes - instagib, headshot-only, poison knives | Low grav gameplay is now possible | Dynamite can now be shootable by the engineer who dropped it

The pros: No client download. New, unique types of gameplay, all optional.
The cons: None!

WildWest by Hewster and BoltyBoy

WildWest is currently the only available "total conversion" mod. It is set in the later half of the 19th century around the Western states of America bordering Mexico. Instead of Allies vs. Axis, it's cowboys vs. bandits! WildWest provides a truly unique type of gameplay, including all new weapons, player models, and maps. The gameflow is changed to a somewhat slower pace; players don't run as fast, and the old-fashioned weapons don't fire as rapidly.

Features: New maps | New player models | New weapons | New player "quickchat" voices | Numerous game dynamics modifications

The pros: New, totally unique type of gameplay. New maps, models, and sounds.
The cons: Large client download required. Four-step installation process. Few servers currently available.

Team Conversion by Cobralord

Team Conversion changes the basic goal of the game. In TC, your objective is to "convert" all the players on the other team to your own team. This is achieved by killing an opposing player, then having a medic on your team revive them. As a twist, once there is only one player left on a particular team, he becomes the "bunny" and gains increased speed, health, and weapon power.

The pros: Unique, fast-paced gameplay.
The cons: Small client download required. Few servers currently available.

I am having a very frustrating time with installing mods for return to castle wolf. I download the mod no problem, extract them....but when i go to install I get a messege window that comes up and says " C:windowssystem32autoexec.nt. the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. Choose 'close' to terminate the application" it also has a ignore button that does nothing......?????
I tried to get into the game and see if I could run the mod in the game and it doesn't see any mods available...., what should I do? what am I doing wrong, I have a heathly system that runs everything else in the world I want to run....very frustrated ---- please somebody help, would defenetly like to see something new on my favorite game.
